The6 star prime rated World Qualifying Series 2009 SriLankan Airlines Pro begins in the magnificent Maldives June 8th running thru to June 14th. Owen Wright and Stu Kennedy surf in Ht 16 , Adam Melling surfs in Ht 17 and Dan Ross surfs in Ht 20 of the round of 96. Time to rack up some more points boys.

UPDATE June 10
Unfortunately Stu Kennedy was eliminated from the round of 96. Owen Wright continued his great form for '09 and won his heat to go into the final 48. Adam Melling survived a tight one as did Dan Ross and both are into the final 48.

UPDATE June 111
After a very ordinary start Owen fired up towards the end of his heat and finished with a big win to go into the final 24.Adam took a long time to find a bomb and in the end was the best surfer in the water to not get a good score - eliminated. He starts from the round of 144 with the kiddies in South Africa so this needs to be a time to focus for the Iceman. Dan smashed the round of 48 and moves comfortably into to final 24

UPDATE June 12
Owen had a tight win over Heitor Alves to move into the round of 16. Dan Ross had a solid win to advance as well.

UPDATE June 14
The boys have everything on track and are both into the quarter finals.

UPDATE June 14
Owen Wright has won the Sri Lankan Airlines Pro from Pat Gudaskis.Owen started with a 7.00 but then went to the skies and put on a clinic on aerial surfing to have the final sorted with 14 mins to go. Sitting on a 9.83 and a 9.40 his opponent needed to recreate his stunning form earlier in the event when he pulled the first Rodeo Clown in an ASP event. So with 3 mins to go Pat pulls the only move that could beat Owen and gets a 10, poor bugger only needed another 9+ ride and he would've been in there. 3500 points takes Owen to No.1 in the WQS ratings and that final was possibly one the best ASP finals in history. Congratulations Owen . Well done to Dan Ross who finished in 5th and should be either No.1 or No.2 on the revised WQS ratings
